http://www.timegate.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11661

Next week well be launching a slightly revamped TimeGate.com, and as you know from my last message, the goal is really to get you guys more involved and to show you what it is we do here well, other than make video games, that is. We wanted to give you a sneak peek this week so you know what to expect.

Here are a few highlights:

More News:
Were expanding the amount of news youll see when you hit the front page with all of the new games were working on, were pretty sure well need the extra space.

Community Focus:
We know you guys along with our developers, of course are the reason why TimeGates been successful, so this new site is going to put more of a focus on you. Were starting with a prominent link to the Community, which is basically just going to be the forums for now, but will eventually be a site of its own, highlighting fan contributions, websites and more. Were also making the newsletter a more important part of how we interact with you, with regular updates about the company and our games. Last, but certainly not least, were launching the Inside TimeGate section. Here youll be able to read staff blogs, find out about company outings (like last weeks baseball game) and get more insight into what goes on behind the scenes at TimeGate.

Featured Jobs:
This is going to be a huge year for us as we expand our teams to work on the next batch of TimeGate games. Were going to need to bring on a lot of great developers artists, programmers, designers and more to help us out, so were going to make sure you can see the hottest jobs without having to always hit the Employment page. During the upcoming weeks well also be posting articles about how to break into the game industry, and well show off some of the perks that come with working at TimeGate.

Unannounced Games:
Its mystery at its best! Were finally going to call attention to the games were working on but havent announced yet. Maybe well drop a few hints here and there.

Needless to say, were excited about this first step and well continue to roll out additional features over the coming weeks. We cant wait to start being more involved with the community, and hearing what you think about the company, the new site and our games.

"New version of KAG2 is finished. Thanks again to VR for his help. Installation is simple just rename any ART folder and then copy the KAG2 ART folder and KAG2.tgx to the Kohan Ahrimans Gift folder. I'll plan on hosting soon, possibly tonight."

Slobbish has put together a new mod that removes perhaps the biggest complaint old timers had regards to KoW...pre-determined settlement points. Now with Free Settle, you can plant your town almost anywhere (restrictions apply, see mod de.scription for details). Slobbish is looking for help testing to find the optimal settings.

Rako has finished his KoW Mod, Next Level Mod. Documentation can be found here.

Paraphrasing: "This mod does several things: level the playing field of the races, change the techs, add a little more variety to the unit combos."

It is recommended that you use the KoW Launcher in conjunction with this mod.

Slowing things down...

I've also added two KoW Mods created by Slobbish & Niarg: 20_25 and 40_50 which reduce resupply rate and gold/min.

"A key aspect of this mod is to 'slow' the game down slightly to allow for more strategy, however the question is how much to slow it down? Currently in KKOW a unit regenerates in 10secs, in KAG it was 20secs, and we'd like to try 15secs."

The Awakening

I'd like to welcome you to the re-Awakening of this Kohan fansite. It has been long overdue and work continues to bring all the existing content into this new format.

There are a lot of new features, including:

New Forums: From KIS to KoW, plus if you have a clan that needs a private forum and don't feel like making your own site, here is the place to go.
Knowledge Base: Organized, easy to navigate articles submitted by the community with the ability to rate and comment.
Downloads: Submit your own files, films, maps, whatever, and update them as needed, rate and discuss.
Private Messaging: Contact your fellows to discuss strategy or arrange games.
Calendar: Schedule games, tournaments, and other events.
Photo Album: Upload your favorite screenshots and other Kohan related artworks.

I hope the update is a welcome change Smile

Hey Everyone,

2007 is going to be a big year for TimeGate. As you probably already know, were hard at work developing three new games, two of which (a multiplatform FPS and an ambitious MMO) are based in brand new worlds weve created needless to say, were really excited about showing you those games and to get you talking about them. To that end, you should start noticing some changes around here, as we redesign the website and expand our community efforts to give you easier access to game information, more frequent updates and more ways to get involved in the TimeGate community.

One of our primary goals has always been to deliver awesome games that push genre boundaries. As we move forward with the unannounced games, we want to push the boundaries of fan support, too. Well be increasing our involvement on the message boards, answering questions about game features, news, screenshots and anything else we release. Well start hosting polls and surveys that will help us get a better idea of what you really want to see in TimeGates upcoming games; after all, youre the ones buying the games, so we hope were making games that inspire, challenge and engage you.

Well also start giving you more insight into what its like to work at TimeGate, with developer profiles, articles about how to break into the game industry, a team blog chronicling milestones in our games development, contests and more. In essence, we want to give as much as we can back to the fans who have supported us over the years. The transition should be pretty smooth well roll out new website features on a pretty regular schedule, and well occasionally look to you to decide what sort of functionality youd like to see.

As I said before, were ridiculously excited about the games were developing and we cant wait to show you the work weve done. For now, we encourage you to talk it up on the forums and invite your friends! Neither you nor your friends will be disappointed with what weve got cooking.

Sincerely,

Adel Chaveleh
